You’ll play a key role in ensuring data integrity, reliable deployments, and smooth system performance across multiple environments — including hands-on involvement in production deployments and live environment diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Management & Testing
- Execute advanced SQL queries for data verificationPerform backups and restores
- Validate workflows, automations, and data assignments
Deployment & Environment Management
- Manage testing and releases across QA, pre-production, and production
- Manually perform production deployments, particularly for monolithic systems that require custom commands and configurations (e.g., cron jobs, external system integrations)
- Verify deployments and ensure stable performance post-release
- Handle pull requests and production merges
- Run backend and user-facing tests
- Conduct deployments outside of standard South African working hours to minimize impact on system load
API Testing & Integration
- Use Postman for RESTful API validation
- Test integrations with platforms like Meraki & Microsoft Graph
- Troubleshooting & Support
- Debug issues via Azure and command line
- Diagnose live environment issues, including authentication, billing, and sync problems
- Code Review & QA
- Conduct basic code reviews for file relevanceEnsure only validated code reaches production.
Languages & Tools:
- SQL (advanced), PHP (will be plus), JavaScript, Redis
- Postman, GIT, SQL Server, PostgreSQL
- Azure, REST APIs
- Command Line (Linux/Windows), Remote Server Access
Ideal Candidate:
- 5+ years in a technical QA or testing role
- English — Upper-Intermediate+
- Strong attention to detail
- Skilled in backend systems and database validation
- Confident in deployment pipelines and production testing
- Experienced in manual deployments and post-deploy verification
- Comfortable debugging issues in live production environments
- Flexible to perform deployments outside regular working hours
- Able to work independently and solve complex technical issues
